What is a Security Freeze?

A security freeze, when properly placed, limits when a consumer reporting agency, such as CoreLogic Credco (“Credco”), can release the information it has on you to users of our services without your providing a PIN to unlock such information. A security freeze may be used by anyone, even those who do not believe they have been a victim of fraud, including identity theft. To place a security freeze on your Credco consumer file, please read these instructions carefully.

What happens if I request a Security Freeze with Credco?

While the law varies from state to state, in general, you may request a security freeze to be placed upon your consumer file. Credco will, upon such request and proper identification, place a security freeze on your Credco consumer file. Once a security freeze is in place, Credco will provide you with a personal PIN. Once frozen, your Credco consumer file will only be released, subject to certain exceptions permitted by law, when you directly contact Credco, provide us with your personal PIN, and request that any information Credco has on you be released.

What is frozen when I place a Security Freeze with Credco?

At your request, we will place a security freeze on the information we maintain on you in your consumer file, which mainly consists of property transactions and public record information. If you wish to place a security freeze on your credit report with the 3 nationwide consumer credit reporting companies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion), you will need to contact those companies directly. Credco is not able to place a security freeze with the credit bureaus on your behalf. The credit reporting companies’ addresses, phone numbers and websites are as follows:

How Do I place a Security Freeze with Credco?

If you would like to place a security freeze, please contact Credco’s consumer relations department indicating that you would like to place a security freeze. You may contact Credco’s consumer relations by phone, mail or via our secure website to make the request. You must provide the following information in order to request to place a security freeze:

  1. Your full name
  2. Your current address, including apartment number and ZIP Code
  3. Your Social Security number/Taxpayer Identification Number and
  4. Your date of birth

Credco will not be able to process your request if you fail to provide any of the above listed information.

What will happen if I apply for credit, a mortgage or other service whenthere is a Security Freeze placed on my Credco consumer file?

Please note that placement of a security freeze on your Credco consumer file may delay processing of applications for credit, a mortgage, or other credit service. If you place a freeze, you may want to lift the freeze before applying for new credit.

How do I lift or remove a Security Freeze when I apply for credit, a morgage or other credit service?

Instructions for lifting and removing security freezes on your Credco consumer file are as follows:

  1. Write to request your lift or removal of the freeze by mail to:

Please include the following information in your request:

  1. Your full name
  2. Your current address, including apartment number and ZIP Code
  3. Your Social Security number/Taxpayer Identification Number and
  4. Your date of birth
  5. Your PIN (if you are seeking to lift or remove the freeze)
  6. The period of time (minimum of 2 days) that you want the freeze lifted.
  7. If you want to lift the freeze for a specific third party, then please call us at 877-532-8778 to obtain a one-time use access PIN for such third party

How do I obtain a replacement PIN If I have lost the one for lifting or removing a security freeze on my Credco consumer file?
